Frequently Asked Questions
Can you set this up for me?
Yes. Setup assistance is available for Business and Bespoke plan customers. Contact us with your requirements and we will handle the configuration for you.
What are refresh rates?
Refresh rates determine how frequently Feed Control checks your feeds for updates. A blog with infrequent updates doesn't need to be checked very often, whereas a frequently updated news site should be. A refresh rate of 1 hour means the feed will be checked every hour for updates. You can set the refresh rate per feed, but it cannot exceed your plan's limit.
What are widgets?
Widgets are customizable embeddable feeds that you can add to your website. Create a widget for any of your feeds and get a simple HTML code snippet to paste into your site. Choose the layout, number of items, which fields to display (title, description, image, date, author), and color scheme. Perfect for displaying your latest content on landing pages, sidebars, or any part of your website.
What does "max items in output" mean?
When feed generation is enabled, your output feed includes the 10 most recent items by default. You can increase this limit up to the maximum allowed by your plan.
How do email alerts work?
If you enable email alerts, Feed Control will send you emails with the latest feed items. You can set the kind of alert you want: email for each new item, or daily, weekly, or monthly summaries.
What is feed expansion?
Many RSS feeds include only a summary rather than the full article. Feed expansion retrieves the complete content for each item. Once expanded, you can subscribe to the full-text feed in your reader, receive complete articles via webhooks, or pipe them into automation tools like Zapier and IFTTT.
How does Webpage-to-RSS work?
Feed Control can generate RSS feeds from web pages that do not offer their own. Point it at any URL and it will extract structured content into a feed, which you can then monitor, filter, and distribute like any other feed.
How do content filters work?
Filters let you include or exclude feed items based on keywords and URL patterns. Define rules to keep only the items that match your criteria, or block items you want to ignore. Filtered feeds can be output as RSS or JSON for use in other applications.
What are templated feeds?
All plans include standard RSS and JSON output templates. Plus and Business plans add platform-specific templates for SmartNews, Flipboard, and MSN News, ensuring your feeds meet each platform's technical requirements for content syndication.
What are curated feeds?
Curation mode lets you manually select which items from a source feed appear in your output. Review incoming items and mark the ones you want to include. When combined with filters, matching items are automatically flagged as candidates for your review.
What integrations are available?
Feed Control integrates with Slack, Discord, and custom webhooks. Post feed updates to specific Slack or Discord channels automatically. Use webhooks to push new items directly to your own application or workflow.
What are bundles?
Bundles let you combine multiple feeds into a single unified output. Subscribe to one RSS or JSON endpoint instead of managing several individual feeds.
Can you increase the limits?
Yes. If you need capacity beyond the Business plan, contact us with your requirements. We offer custom plans with higher limits and dedicated support.
